The City Library has kids activities to do on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
It’s located right by the lovely De Graves precinct which is a nice place to wander and soak in the vibrant Melbourne little lanes atmosphere.
It'll be best to double check the library website before turning up just to make sure times don’t change..........
.........but at the time of writing they were holding Stompers, 30 minutes of stories, songs, rhymes, music and FUN(!) for 18 month to 3 year olds on Wednesdays from 10am-10.30am..........
........and on Tuesdays from 11am you’ll find the Preschool Storytimes, 40-50 minutes of fun stories, rhymes, songs and activities for 2 to 5 year olds.
Click on City Library to find their website.........
.........This website covers six libraries in the area though so be careful you don’t turn up here when the activity is being held at one of the other libraries!
These activities are held February through to mid-December except public holidays and school holidays.
They also do the occasional extra activities.........
........ When I went along I saw there was to be a public reading of a new book called Melbourne Magic by the author Sally Learey.........
........It’s her sixth book and celebrates the sights of Melbourne as seen through the eyes of Charlie, Miranda and their outrageous gran!........
.........It certainly sounds good and maybe she mentions a few free things for kids to do in Melbourne too!
Why not make it a full day out for the kids........
........Afterwards you can head up to the free children’s activities at the amazing State Library of Victoria – it’s only a five minute walk away if you don’t get stopped at any of the traffic lights (!!).........
.........or head down to the NGV International and go in their Kids Space........
.........or if it’s a nice day there’s the wonderful Ian Potter Foundation Childrens Garden in the gorgeous Royal Botanic Gardens........
........So many things to do on this website, so little time!!
You'll find the City Library at 253 Flinders Lane, between Swanston and Elizabeth Streets. Have a look at the map below.
